In addition to designing iconic forms for rock bands over the last twenty years, during the past ten years I have developed a technique of action painting I call Illuvium, for the geologic term of particles settling on flood planes. I raise hills to slow progress and weight holes to accelerate flows. Considering the creation of art as biological and evolutionary, I use pigments and minerals as markers to elucidate the convivial forces favorable to life.

Some things I build are out of the necessity of a disability, all are out of a joyful ambition and artistic responsibility to add one thing to another to its highest level. I build on fundamental structures, a framework of latices beneath a plane, in order to let the most essential elements play on top.

As I continue to expand my knowledge of how art is created, I have been including people of all ages in the painting process. My work is to show the forces which surround us, how our intentions, will and work, even the accidents in our efforts, innovate new life. After Carl Jung, I refer to these as Elementary Ideas, and feel these human universals are the most important elements to include in the painting arena.
